“The Vault”

Photographer, Thomas Blanchard creates a photo based light-box and sound installation that examines the tensions between creation and destruction.   In his new work, viewers will navigate through a subterranean concrete space under suspended backlit images of frozen seeds and floating roots.   In “The Vault”, sublime images of life in temporary suspension are embedded in long tubes that create distortions of reality that are accompanied by the sounds of the internal human landscape.

 

Like global seed repositories and other human methods of interventions with the cycle of life as a means for preservation and a promise of life and immortality.
